For this week's assignment, you should add titles, transitions and effects to the video clip you created last week for Assignment Seven. Or if you prefer you may create a new video for this assignment. Remember that the video may be on any topic of your choice, either related to your final semester project or on another topic. You may use video clips that you shot with a camcorder, downloaded from the web, created with a software program, in any combination.
Or if you prefer, you may use another video editing program to complete the assignment.
When you have completed the video, post a comment in which you discuss your experience creating the video. Also, please include a brief description of each title, transition and effect that you used and any additional information about how you think it turned out.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Upload your completed video to a location online where I can view it (such as Google Video, YouTube, Blogger, or other location) and include the URL in your post. Or, if you have trouble with this, please bring a copy of your video with you to the next class.

I took my original video and added titles, effects, and transitions in Movie Maker.
I added a title slide to the beginning of my video to open and inform the viewers of what the video is about. I also added titles at the beginning of each segment that is an overlay on the clip to inform the viewer of what movie segment they are watching.
My five clips in order are:
Peep and the Big Wide World
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
Timothy Goes to School
The Story of Read Alee Deed Alee
The Magic School Bus
I found that the vast majority of the effects were not appropriate for my video and I had a difficult time using any of them. I did, however, use the "Increase Brightness" effect on the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom clip as it was a bit darker than the others originally.
I added transitions between each video clip to create a break between each one. I would not use this many in this short of a video except that it was difficult to distinguish the changing of clips when they simply played on to the next one.
The transitions I used were:
Sweep Out
Zig Zag Vertical
Rectangle
Wheel 4 Spokes
Dissolve Rough
My video can be found on my blog at http://msposterickam08.blogspot.com/. The top one is the edited copy and the one below it is my rough copy that does not include any transitions or titles.
Hi, y’all. For Assignment Eight I inserted titles and transitions into an edited string of videos downloaded from YouTube. Inserting the titles was made easier by class demonstrations but I still had many a goof-up before I got it right. I froze the program twice by putting the title on the wrong video line and then dragging it to the one with the clips on it. I think the problem was with the user rushing the commands. After reboots I slowed down and did something remarkable—think before each move and give my laptop a chance to process the moves (also learned to back up major steps by saving the file more frequently because loosing work time to a crash is irksome to say the least). Other goofs included text continuing off the page and an initial bad choice of font. Changing to a more easily read style made a big difference in the finished product. I only used simple fade to black transitions.
The video short story is posted at http://artbruce.blogspot.com and I am overall pleased with the results. It is, after all, my first attempt, so I am cutting myself some slack. Bruce
One more thing...
I uploaded the video short story to YouTube. Welcome to the twenty-first century, Bruce. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaxFb-dWkxw
See y'all in class.
Well done, Amanda and Bruce! There are some great suggestions in Bruce's post for everyone else, so you may want to follow some of these recommendations in your own work.
I actually had major problems with this week's assignment. At home, I attempted to capture video from a DVD but my security settings would not allow me to use DVD Shrink. I then attempted to capture it with Jing, but it was very "jerky" and not good quality. Alas, I came to the CITE lab, only to find that I could not download Koyote to convert my DVD Shrink file. Finally, I used Camtasia to capture some video from YouTube to use instead of my DVD that I was planning on using.
It's not the way I intended it to come out, but it was definitely a learning experience. I have a lot to work on in order to create the opening for my final project.
My assignment (Tentative Opening Sequence)is viewable at my video blog:

I'm having few problems with iMovie. I don't think any of you are using it, so I won't go into details about it.
I've posted my video for this week here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6784817874550711389
My short film needs some work with regard to transitions, but I did manage to upload it last week. I also tried Animoto after Shaunna's video clip last week. I will probably use clips related to this topic for my final project.
Both are visible on my blog: http://video-lrschmidt.blogspot.com/
I've been working on the opening to my project. After shooting the intro scene maybe 10 times, I found enough usable material. Who knew it would take so much practice to even look ordinary (ha). Anyway, I used MovieMaker to splice together my scene and to add a few small clips for a change of pace. According to YouTube, you can see it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LW7sheHUcY. This was fun and it got me going on a project that's been on the shelf for a while. See y'all in class.
I used Windows movie maker and loved the ease of use!
I started working on my presentation on using graphic novels in the classroom.
I still have tons of editing to do and have way more coverage than I need or really more coverage than necessary.
I look forward to adding voice to the movie
