Hi, I'm Donna Smith, a graduate of this IT program, and a former student of Dr. Robin's.
I've never a digital video class and I'm excited about filling in some big gaps in my skills and understanding!
Hello everyone. I am Bruce Mauldin. I have a Master of Fine Arts from University of North Texas, have passed the comprehensive examination here at the College of Education, and am in the early stages of dissertation. I know little to nothing about digital video so am anticipating a challenging semester. Here we go...wheeeee!
Hi, I'm Laura Schmidt. I graduated with a BA from the University of North Texas in 2005, and I have taught English and art in K-12 classrooms. I will finish my M.Ed. in Art Education this summer and am looking into careers in museum and higher ed. Whatever I do, I know this course will be beneficial.
I'm Gary Kitmacher. This is the first genuine college class I've enrolled in, in 20 years. When I finished my Masters in Management, we were still using large computers in the school and desktop computers (I had a Commodore 128) had barely made an arrival.
I am the Mission Communications Manager for the Space Station Program, and have used digital stills, video and web in many of my products and activities. Currently I am helping to establish a new Masters program in Space Exploration at UH COE so NASA is loaning me to UH. I figured while I was here I'd get a doctoral degree in my spare time.
I am developing a series of lectures for two classes. One of these on spaceflight/spacecraft design, will have a lecture on spacesuits. I wanted a video of the pioneer aviator Wiley Post developing/testing his pressure suit in the 1930s. I'd never actually seen such a film, wasn't sure it existed; so did some searching and came across a 'Short Documentary of Will Rogers' which included a short segment on Wiley Post and his suit. I had a great deal of trouble downloading it, perhaps because of the size, 22.5 Mb. AFter neither Zamzar nor Media Converter worked, I searched for other programs. I tried 3 more; neither 'AVS Video Converter' nor 'Handbrake' worked, or perhaps I simply couldn't figure out how to use them. But NCH Software Prism worked well and was easy to use, downloading and converting, though the AVI format does not play properly - you see colored patterns as though there were no video with it (size indicates there is something there). But the downloaded converted WMV looks and sounds better than it did on the internet. My next problem is to edit the 10 minute video down to the 2 minutes I need for my lecture. GK
Hi, I'm Shaunna Smith. I'm finishing up my M.Ed. in Instructional Technology this semester. I have a B.A. in Art from The University of Texas at Austin and I taught Art, Drawing, Digital Graphics and Animation, and Web Design at the high school and community college levels for 7 years. I'm anxious to work more with video in this course and learn new skills for both personal and professional use.
Hi all, I'm Brian Crawford. For the last ten years, I've been working at Lone Star College-North Harris in the computer Information Technology department. After completing my MBA at SHSU two years ago, I've been looking for a program that best fit the career path I've chosen. the doctoral program here at UH seems to fit perfectly. Until this course, I've left putting the "pretty pictures" together for the web design classes while teaching hardware, operating systems and programming. Seems like a perfect start!
Hello! My name is Amanda Posterick and I am in the masters program for IT. I also attended UH for my undergraduate degree in early childhood education. I am a Kindergarten teacher in Klein I.S.D. and wouldn't trade my job for the world. Kindergarten is my passion and feel rewarded (and exhausted) at the end of the day to be working with such a wonderful group of children. 5 year olds are honest and loving and I couldn't ask for anything different!
Hey guys, my name is Jeff Cunningham. I have a BS in Biology and Chemistry from Baylor University. I'm currently finishing up my M.Ed. in Science Ed. and I hope to teach high school science for a while.
Hello, my name is Zainab Fazalbhoy. I am currently working on a M.Ed in Reading/English Language Arts.
I know very little about digital video and hope to learn a great deal more!
